Guests are often surprised by how easy it is to reach us. Kaštela is right in the middle of the central Dalmatian coast, between Split and Trogir, and it is home to Split Airport. Whether you arrive by plane, car, bus or ferry, here is everything you need to know about getting to Kaštela and to Villa Marina in Kaštel Stari.

By plane: Split Airport is in Kaštela

Split Airport (SPU) is not really in Split at all. It lies on the western side of Kaštela, next to Trogir, and from the terminal to our door in Kaštel Stari it is about 5.4 kilometres, roughly 8 minutes by car. That makes Kaštela one of the most convenient places to stay on the whole coast: you can land, unpack and be in the pool before dinner.

Between April and October there are direct flights to Split from most European countries, both on traditional airlines and low-cost carriers. In the winter months connections are fewer, and many travellers fly via Zagreb or another hub.

From the airport to the villa

Once you land, you have several options:

  • Airport transfer: we can meet you at Split Airport and bring you to the villa. Just tick the airport transfer option when you request your dates, and we will confirm the price with your booking.
  • Taxi and ride-hailing: taxis wait outside the arrivals hall, and ride-hailing apps also operate in the Split area. For such a short distance the fare is modest.
  • Rental car: all the major rental companies have desks at the airport. A car is not essential for your stay, but it is useful for day trips to Krka, Šibenik or Klis.
  • Local bus: the Split to Trogir line runs along the main road near the airport and along the Kaštela coast; the nearest stop is about 800 metres from the villa, around 11 minutes on foot. It is the cheapest option if you are travelling light.

By car: driving from abroad on the A1

Many of our guests drive down from Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Hungary or Italy. The route is straightforward: head for Zagreb and take the A1 motorway south towards Split. The A1 is a modern toll motorway with service areas along the way, and the drive from Zagreb takes roughly four hours in normal traffic.

For Kaštela, leave the A1 at the Prgomet or Vučevica exit. From either one it is about 20 minutes down to the coast. Summer Saturdays are the busiest travel days on the motorway, especially near the toll stations, so allow extra time and start early.

  • Tolls can be paid by card or cash at the toll stations; check the Croatian motorway operator's website for current prices and payment options before you travel.
  • Bring your driving licence, car registration documents and insurance papers.
  • Villa Marina has 5 free parking spaces on the property, so you will not need to look for a space on the street.

By ferry and by boat

Split is the main ferry port of central Dalmatia. International ferries run between Italy, usually Ancona, and Split in the summer season, and there are regular ferry and catamaran lines to the islands of Brač, Hvar, Šolta, Vis and beyond. If you are combining a stay with us with a few days on an island, Split port is only about 25 minutes by car from Kaštel Stari, or a straightforward bus ride.

If you are arriving on your own yacht, Marina Kaštela is about 7.4 kilometres from the villa, around 11 minutes by car, with berths for visiting boats and a fuel station.

Arrival day at Villa Marina

Check-in at the villa is from 16:00 and check-out is until 10:00. In the high season we rent Saturday to Saturday, in full weeks, which matches the rhythm of many flights and charter programmes.

Short transfers, easy roads and free parking on site: that is what makes arrival day at Villa Marina so relaxed. If you are planning a holiday on the Dalmatian coast, Kaštel Stari is one of the easiest places to reach, and we would be happy to help with anything you need for your journey.
